Visão geral

To truly understand Portuguese history, it is essential to travel deep into the interior of the country, to the region that once served as the political and bureaucratic heart of Portugal before the Age of Discoveries.

In the heart of Alentejo, this tour offers a unique cultural experience shaped by civilizations that left a strong influence on Portuguese identity, from prehistoric megalithic cultures older than the Celts to the Romans and the Moors.

Our journey begins at the Royal Palace of Évora, now transformed into an interpretive centre with one of the best digital exhibitions representing the different historical periods of Évora. We then visit the mysterious Chapel of Bones, created by the Franciscan order. Despite its unusual appearance, its true message is one of humility and reflection.

We continue with a walking tour through the historic centre of Évora, exploring narrow medieval streets while your guide shares local stories and hidden gems. Stops include the famous Roman Temple of Évora and the impressive Évora Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in Portugal, with panoramic views from the rooftop.

After free time for lunch at a local restaurant, we continue to Arraiolos, a peaceful village known for its circular castle from the Templar period and its famous handcrafted carpets inspired by Persian traditions.
