Portas do Sol Viewpoint

History:

The name "Portas do Sol" refers to one of the former gates of Lisbon’s medieval walls, which once controlled access to the city. Located in the heart of Alfama, this area played an important role in the defence of Lisbon for centuries, particularly during the Muslim and medieval Christian periods.

Today, the viewpoint is one of the best places to appreciate the historic layout of the city, with its maze of narrow streets, terracotta rooftops, and centuries of history unfolding below.
